Rapid detection of gingerol and thymol in medicinal foods based on Fe2O3 nanoparticles modified glassy carbon electrode

Ginger and Ajwain are used extensively in food products, natural medicine to treat certain common diseases as an immunity booster against viral infections. In this work, we report the fabrication of a novel electrochemical sensor based on α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles for detection quantification [6]-Gingerol (GIN) Thymol (THY) which water soluble phytochemicals derived from edible herbs respectively. The were synthesised by sol-gel method its structure composition confirmed powder X-ray diffraction photoelectron spectroscopy studies. NPs modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity towards oxidation GIN THY phosphate buffer saline at pH 7. GCE lowest limits 35.2 nM 24 respectively over corresponding dynamic ranges 55.6 118 µM 27.8 56 µM. Detailed interference study potential anti-interference ability fabricated number interfering compounds. Cyclic stability yielded relative standard deviation (RSD) values 9.9% 9.18% respectively, demonstrating sensor. Reproducibility α-Fe2O3/GCE was investigated testing electrodes RSD 1.08% 0.97%, These promising characteristic features proposed make it suitable quick precise medicines.
